Alan is turning into such a big helper. Not only does he help get us our shoes, but now he's taken to helping with dishes, too!

Birthday Boy!
Yes, it's true. We have a 1 year old on our hands now. It's so hard to believe that Alan is already a year old. Then again, I look at pictures of him when he was so little, and it's hard to believe that he was ever that small either.
On Sunday, we got to celebrate both Alan's birthday and Father's day, so it was a busy day. Alan had significantly more presents than Scott, and we actually had him open his presents in three shifts. He should be well outfitted for the entire summer, and should have enough new toys to keep him busy for at least a week. :) He is always looking for something new in that respect. At his one year check-up they had me fill out a little survey to make sure that he was developing in all areas. He was fine in all areas, but scored the lowest in communication and social/personal interaction, and scored the highest in problem solving. Scott decided that this means he will follow in his dad's footsteps and be a computer science major. :) We'll see.
We had some friends and family over for Scott's Father's day meal and Alan's cake and ice cream. Unfortunately, by the end of this big long day, Alan was a little bit overwhelmed. With everyone singing happy birthday, and two cameras pointed at his face, when we put the cake & candle in front of him, he just broke down and started bawling. It was so sad! I guess he just wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. But he recovered quickly, and enjoyed eating his cake.
See what a great dad Scott is! He's perfecting his newly discovered cake decorating skills.
The finished product-
He started out very proper with a plate and fork.
First we lost the fork...
And then the plate...
All in all, it was a very successful day.

Roommate Reunion and Hiking the Y
Well, it's been a fun-filled couple of weeks. My friend Beth just got back from her mission to Temple Square, and to celebrate, Anne and Lorena came to visit! It's been a while since we've all seen each other, and it was so much fun to be together again, even if it was only for a day. We all met my freshman year in college, about 7 years ago, amazingly. Here are some pics from our time together!
We played games, ate tons of good food, and visited with old friends. Of course a trip to Provo wouldn't be complete without a couple trips to the Creamery, J-Dawgs, and hiking the Y. So yes, Alan made his first trip up Y mountain, and did a great job! Or I should say that Scott and Michael did a good job carrying him.
He was vehemently opposed to the idea of wearing a hat.
Touching the Y for the first time.
Woohoo!
