The Berkshires

This past December we went on a short overnight trip to the Berkshires. My parents had a few timeshare points that were going to go to waste, so we took advantage and used them for a one night getaway to Western MA.

On the way there we stopped at the Yankee Candle village in Deerfield, MA.
It was a HUGE store with many different themed rooms. There was so much to buy and see and smell!
Here we are in a room where it snowed every 7 minutes.
A couple of cute guys in front of an old car.
The kids got to dip their own candles as well!

And this was the biggest candle ever!
The kids also loved the timeshare. This was the first time they'd really been that they were old enough to remember. Though we didn't have much time there, we swam in the indoor/outdoor pool that evening and they played a few games in the game room. The next morning we packed up to go, and apparently there was some sort of miscommunication with James. He was under the impression that we were going to be on vacation for two days (which we were, because we spent the full Friday and Saturday doing things) but he thought that would mean we could stay at the timeshare another night. When it was time to go, he threw a complete fit and stood screaming at the top of a hill for a long time. I don't remember how we finally got him to the car, but he continued crying as we drove to a place that we were going to do a little hike. I remained in the car with him for a minute or two, until he decided he wanted to participate in the hike as well. The following pictures are from our nice hike on the exceptionally warm December day that we had.

After the hike we went to the Berkshires Museum in Pittsfield. The kids had a lot of fun there as well. One of the temporary exhibits there was called "Westward Ho Ho Ho." It was a wild west/Christmas themed exhibit, that featured over 100 decorated Christmas trees. The kids had a great time.

So that was our whirlwind trip to the Berkshires. We then took the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston and went home. I promised James while he was screaming at the top of that hill (or shortly thereafter) that I was sure we'd go back. Excited to make good on that promise in a few weeks. :)
