House Updates

So, we had a great winter this year. And not only was all of the snow a lot of fun, but it turns out that all of that indoor time makes for a good time to buy furniture and other home improvement types of things. Here are a few of the things we did this year to help make our house a little more homey.

We've been needing a rug for the front room. Nothing like cold wood floors in the dead of winter to inspire a rug buy. :) The kids obviously thought this was much more comfy and started making snow angels the second I took it out of the box. (Snow outside is too deep for snow angels)
And then they entertained with the box itself.
We decided to try to make our basement a more comfortable place to be and scored these couches on a good sale at Jordan's.
And found this on clearance when we were buying the couches.
And this is our new pellet stove. We love it. It really makes the basement a warm and comfortable place to be in the winter and just makes the whole house feel warmer.
You put the pellets into the top here and it feeds it down into the fire. Super easy to operate, and hopefully a good investment for many more cold winters. :)
Ikea. Who doesn't love Ikea? Another fun winter visit. I just loved this picture.
This was the purchase we made there.
Next steps are painting the basement and replacing carpet...It's looking like a project for next winter. Though we did get our kitchen painted and most of the upstairs bathroom. And then we stalled. Outside work took over...

And here are the fruit trees we planted for Mother's Day. Two peach and two apple. Unfortunately the animals have loved eating these things... fruit, leaves, bark. We'll see how they survive. We'll have to find some way to keep critters away!
