4th of July

So, I was due on the 3rd of July. We weren't quite sure what to expect for the 4th this year, but judging from past experiences, we figured we might still be around. :) I had actually come down with an awful stomach bug the day before my due date, so I was more than happy to give it a few days to recover before going into labor. :)

We started off the 4th at Scott's favorite ward event of the year...the 4th of July pancake breakfast. :)
These kids were big helpers and came early to help Dad prepare breakfast!
Our goose thinks she still fits in a baby car seat. I don't think she realized how little the baby would be. :)
Later in the day Grandma and Grandpa Robertson brought over all sorts of food for a BBQ.
And the kids loved the flag cake that Grandma made.
Later that evening, we met up with some friends at a park for fireworks.
It was a good show and while there were a few trees, it was not crowded at all where we were.
We successfully avoided a long walk and long traffic. And thankfully it was a beautiful night. All major pluses when you are over 40 weeks pregnant. :) Happy Birthday, America.

Alan's Baptism

On Saturday, June 24th, we were able to have Alan's baptism. We are so proud of Alan for his decision to be baptized and the good choices that he makes. He was able to have all of his grandparents here for his baptism, as well as his Great Grandma Foulk. It was a special day for all. His grandmas and grandpas said prayers and gave talks at the baptism, and Daddy got to baptize and confirm him. In fact, Alan got to get baptized three times! There had been a slight miscommunication about the font filling, and the font actually had very very little water in it. (Like it didn't even come up to Alan's knees. :) So it took a couple of times to get this guy all the way under the water, but eventually they did it! I thought they were pretty brave to even try! All in all a very fun, memorable, spiritual day. Thank you to all of the friends and family who came to support him and made our day so special. Love you all, and love our Alan!!!

Alan's 8th Birthday

Can't believe our big guy is 8 years old!!! Where has the time gone? I'm at the hospital while writing this post watching little William sit under the lights for his bilirubin, and it seems like not too long ago that Alan was in his little bilibed. But somehow he turned 8 in the mean time! He had a wonderful birthday this year and we love having this fun guy around!

We started the day with some fun presents!

Alan got his own Echo Dot, which was quite a hit!
Later that day, Alan had his football themed birthday party. Here's the cake.
Alan and Scott spray painted a football field in our yard so that his friends could play a "real" game of flag football.

Good thing our yard is big enough for a football field. :)
Practicing some drills before the game.
Scott was our referee and led these boys throughout the party. He did an AWESOME job.
I literally did nothing. Which was about what I felt like doing at 38 weeks pregnant. :)
And Grandma and these kids had a fun time in the sandbox
And on the swings. :)

While these boys had fun playing football.

And everybody loved the pizza and cake. :)

All in all, a very fun day for a very fun boy. We love you Mr. A. :)

Tobler's Visit

In June, we were thrilled to have the Tobler's come and visit for a few days! They did lots of fun things while in MA, but the kids just loved playing together most of all! These crazy kids had so much fun. We went to the museum of science, the playground, and just played around the house and backyard. It was also so fun to just visit and catch up with them. They put up with all of our crazy renovations. We found out that one of the days they were here, the contractors would be taking down the walls! But they worked around the chaos and we had a fun time anyway. Thanks for coming Toblers! Can't wait til we get to visit you guys again! (Also. Almost all of these pictures are Janet's. Cause she's WAY better at this than I am. So thanks for the pics as well. :)

End of School Fun

Alan's Cultural Fair
Toward the end of the school year, Alan worked hard on a cultural project. He picked a country from his heritage to research and learn about. Alan chose Scotland, and worked very hard finding out information about Scottish culture. He learned about his ancestors from Scotland and some Scottish traditions. He wrote a little report and had to put together a cultural suitcase containing items about Scotland.

Here is Alan's "cultural suitcase." He decorated it with the Scottish flag, pictures of Scottish landmarks, and the Robertson crest and map of the Robertson clan.
Headed to school with his suitcase!
We got to visit his classroom and see Alan's suitcase.
All of the kids in the class did a great job of presenting their suitcases. It was fun to hear about all of their different cultures!

Joy School Graduation
Lucy ended the year with a fun Joy School Graduation. We had a great group of kids this year and they had a lot of fun together. At the end of the year we presented them with their diplomas and all about me books. So proud of these cute kids!

James' Author Day
At the end of the school year, we also got to go into James' classroom and celebrate an Author Day with him. He presented a lot of the work he had done throughout the year. It was amazing to see the progress in his writing and journals from the beginning to end of his kindergarten year. They had some special snacks and we got to see pictures of their year as well. James has loved kindergarten and it was a fun way to end the year.

And here is the bus stop crew on the last day of school! What a fun kindergarten and 2nd grade year!
